I think this marinara is perfect! Chunky tomatoes, herbs, onions, garlic and a kiss of sugar make for an absolutely lovely sauce.

Ingredients
UnitsScale
1 tbsp olive oil
1/2 large red onion (or 1 small), chopped
1 tbsp garlic (2–3 cloves), minced
1 28oz can whole, peeled tomatoes
1 tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp dried basil
Instructions
Heat olive oil in medium saucepan while you chop the onions. Add the onions and sauté until soft and translucent, about 10 min. Turn the heat down if they start to brown.
Add the garlic and sauté about 2 minutes.
Next add tomatoes and begin breaking them up with a spoon. Add sugar, salt, and herbs.
Bring to a gentle boil and allow to simmer at least 10 minutes, more is preferable – up to 30 minutes.
ENJOY!
Notes
Enjoy with roasted spaghetti squash, pasta, on pizza or anywhere you use marinara! I’ve added ground turkey recently for a heartier meal and it was delicious.
This will make about 4-5 1/2 cup servings and can easily be doubled to suit your needs.
