Units Scale

Simple syrup

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar

Lemonade

  • 2 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 3 cups frozen strawberries
  • 3 1/2 cups water
  • 1 cup packed fresh basil

Instructions

  1. In a sauce pan over medium heat, combine sugar and water. Cook until sugar is dissolved and the mixture begins to bubble gently. Turn off the heat.
  2. In a blender, combine strawberries, lemon juice and water. Blend until liquified.
  3. Use a mesh colander to strain out the strawberry pulp. Be sure to use the back of a spoon to gently stir and encourage as much lemonade as possible gets strained through.
  4. Start by adding 2/3 cup of the simple syrup. Stir and add to your pitcher.
  5. Place the infuser in the pitcher, add the basil and muddle it by pressing down on it repeatedly with the end of a thick wooden spoon. Allow this to marinate in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before serving. Taste and add more simple syrup to taste before serving.
  6. Serve over ice with extra basil, frozen strawberries and lemon slices.
