I love making simple syrup! It’s so…simple. This earl grey syrup of course tastes like earl grey tea and makes a tasty homemade soda. It’s also good in coffee (think lavender latte vibes), and cocktails. All you will need is earl grey tea, sugar and water. Let’s make it!

The ingredients for earl grey simple syrup could not be simpler. All you need is:

That’s it!

How to make earl grey simple syrup

Making earl grey simple syrup is the same as making any simple syrup.

First, you will need to brew some strong earl grey tea. Place 3 tea bags in 1.5 cups boiling water and steep for 6 minutes.

Second, remove the tea and add to a pot with 1.5 cups of sugar.

Bring this to a boil and allow it to simmer until thickened. The longer you simmer it, the thicker it will get. I simmered mine for about 15 minutes once it reached a boil.

Where to use it

Make a homemade soda

Just add syrup to club soda, add ice and enjoy!

Make a flavored latte

Add a little earl grey syrup to a strongly brewed cup of coffee with some milk for a delicious latte. If you are a lavender latte fan like me, you will love it!

Use it in cocktails

Truth be told, I’m not a big cocktail drinker but I know this would work great in a cocktail! Here’s a good one to check out.

Does Earl Grey Syrup have caffeine?

Unless you buy decaffeinated earl grey tea, yes, this syrup contains caffeine.
