Rose Simple Syrup

This post will show you how to make a delicious Rose Simple Syrup for a delicate, floral sweetener for your next latte, tea, coffee or cocktail!

Rose Simple Syrup is the perfect way to try rose in food. If you’re like me, you might be a little hesitant to believe that it can taste good and not just be good for candles and lotion! Like lavender, rose has a floral taste that you have to get just right in order for it to be enjoyable to consume. Simple syrup is a great way to try it out! It’s super easy with little time commitment, and inexpensive – all you need is sugar, water and food-grade dried rose petals! Let’s make it!

Rose simple syrup ingredients

You will need just three ingredients to make this rose simple syrup:

  • Granulated sugar
  • Water

How to make rose simple syrup

First, combine the dried roses, sugar and water in a medium saucepan/pot on the stove over medium heat. Stir to combine.

Then allow the sugar to dissolve and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.

Next, cook this for about 5-7 minutes and remove from heat.

Strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve to remove the petals.

Transfer syrup to a glass jar and store in the fridge.

What does rose syrup taste like?

Rose simple syrup has a sweet, delicate floral flavor that adds just a pop of springy freshness to drinks like coffee, lemonade and tea. Or cocktails if you’re into that sort of thing 🙂

How long does rose simple syrup last?

If stored properly (in the refrigerator in a glass jar), you can enjoy this syrup for up to two weeks after making it.

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup dried rose petals (food-grade)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Place sugar, water and dried rose petals in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir to combine.

  2. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes. Turn heat down to keep at a simmer instead of a boil if necessary.

  3. Remove from heat and strain syrup through a mesh strainer to remove rose petals.

  4. Store in a glass jar in the refrigerator and enjoy for up to two weeks!
