Like lavender, rose has a floral taste that you have to get just right in order for it to be enjoyable to consume. Simple syrup is a great way to try it out! It’s super easy with little time commitment, and inexpensive – all you need is sugar, water and food-grade dried rose petals! Let’s make it!

Rose simple syrup ingredients
You will need just three ingredients to make this rose simple syrup:
- Food-grade dried rose petals (affiliate link)
- Granulated sugar
- Water
How to make rose simple syrup
First, combine the dried roses, sugar and water in a medium saucepan/pot on the stove over medium heat. Stir to combine.
Then allow the sugar to dissolve and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
Next, cook this for about 5-7 minutes and remove from heat.
Strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve to remove the petals.
Transfer syrup to a glass jar and store in the fridge.
What does rose syrup taste like?
Rose simple syrup has a sweet, delicate floral flavor that adds just a pop of springy freshness to drinks like coffee, lemonade and tea. Or cocktails if you’re into that sort of thing 🙂
How long does rose simple syrup last?
If stored properly (in the refrigerator in a glass jar), you can enjoy this syrup for up to two weeks after making it.

Ingredients
- 2/3 cup dried rose petals (food-grade)
- 1 cup sugar

Instructions
- Place sugar, water and dried rose petals in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir to combine.
- Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes. Turn heat down to keep at a simmer instead of a boil if necessary.
- Remove from heat and strain syrup through a mesh strainer to remove rose petals.
- Store in a glass jar in the refrigerator and enjoy for up to two weeks!
