What is a rose latte?

First off, what is a rose latte? I’ve been seeing different recipes with rose for quite a while now but have only recently started trying recipes with rose. Better late than never! A rose latte is what it sounds like – a coffee/espresso drink with rose flavoring and milk. You can either use rose water (affiliate link) or make rose simple syrup to flavor your latte.

What does a rose latte taste like?

A rose latte tastes like a creamy coffee drink with just a touch of delicate floral flavor.

You might be wary of eating anything rose flavored and I don’t blame you. You might be wondering if it’s just going to taste like lotion or a candle. Flavoring with rose is like flavoring with lavender– you need to have just the right touch of rose flavor for it to be really lovely and not perfume-y.

Coffee or espresso – I just make strong coffee

Milk of choice – Oat milk or regular dairy milk are my favorites

How to make a rose latte

When I make a latte at home, I prefer to just brew strong coffee. You can make espresso if you prefer and easily sub that in!

I start by brewing extra strong coffee in a french press. While that is brewing I heat the milk in microwave.

Once the coffee is finished brewing, I froth the milk (affiliate link), add rose water, sugar, then stir, then top with frothed milk.

Note: If you want to flavor your latte with rose simple syrup instead, you would want to skip the rose water and sugar and just add to taste. I usually use about one tablespoon of syrup.

Voila!

Rose latte health benefits

Since researching rose, I’ve learned it actually has a lot of potential health benefits! Rose water contains powerful antioxidants, which we know are great for our health. Antioxidants help fight free-radicals, which damage our cells and cause disease. And whether you make rose simple syrup from dried roses or use rose water, you can enjoy these benefits.

In addition, rose water:

  • Contains vitamins A, C, E and B
  • Is anti-inflammatory
  • Can improve mood
