How to tell when mangos are ripe

It’s kind of like an avocado- press the skin gently and it should have some give. Not too much and not too little.

What does mango salsa go well with?

While this salsa is perfect with some of your favorite tortilla chips, it goes wonderfully with many other foods.

I made a fried chicken salad (recipe soon hopefully!) and topped with some of this and it was amazing!

It’s perfect with grilled salmon and spicy flavored meat.

Try it with carnitas tacos, burritos or bowls.

Or on a quesadilla!

How to make it

Let’s make mango avocado salsa. It’s so easy!

The best way to cut a mango

A mango ‘pit’ is in the center of the mango and it’s not like a typical put or seed that you find in other fruits. It’s more like a core where it’s super tough and you just need to cut around it.

Stand the mango up and find the tallest side. Slice each side off, leaving the center pit behind.

Run your knife, lengthwise, across the fruit to the peel but don’t cut all the way through the skin. Do the same thing again crosswise.

Push the skin upwards to invert the mango halve. Use your knife to slice the cubes of mango from the skin into a bowl.

Making mango salsa continued

Once you’ve cut your mango chop the onion, tomato and jalapeño. Combine with the spices and lime juice in glass storage container (affiliate link) or bowl. Mix well and enjoy!

It tastes great straight away but only gets better as the flavors have time to marry.
