How to make kumquat syrup

Start by slicing the kumquats and removing the seeds.

Place sliced kumquats, sugar and water in a pot and cook over medium heat until boiling. Cook about 5 minutes more, then remove from heat. Use the side of a spoon to smash the kumquats to release as much of that kumquat flavor you can.

Strain out the kumquat pulp and store syrup in an airtight jar or bottle in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.
