Ginger Mint Tea with Honey and Lemon
Ginger mint tea is so good for you and it’s super comforting, too! All you need is 4 ingredients and less than 20 minutes!
I LOVE some good tea. From matcha to black tea, not a day passes that I don’t have at least one cup of tea. And while I usually just go for a tea bag, sometimes I like to make my own little concoction with real zesty ginger, fresh mint, lemon and just a touch of honey. The combination of ginger and mint is one of my favorites for any time of the day. And it’s one of the healthy recipes you reach for time and time again when you’ve got a stormy stomach or a simple common cold. Plus, the ingredients can be found at any grocery store. Let’s make it!

Ingredients
Ginger mint tea
- Fresh ginger root – Trader Joe’s has little packets of powdered ginger that you can mix into water and I sometimes use these instead of fresh ginger. If you aren’t into dealing with fresh ginger and you have a Trader Joe’s nearby, you might want to check out their ginger drink mix! And even though they call it a ‘mix’ the only ingredient is ginger. No sugar, no additives.
- Fresh mint leaves – Growing herbs in a raised garden is a great way to keep fresh mint on hand in a pinch!
- Lemon juice
- Honey
- Hot water – Make sure to use filtered water
What does this ginger mint tea taste like?
This herbal blend has a bright, minty flavor profile. Fresh ginger tea is a bit spicy, so we add honey to calm the heat, mint to add flavor and lemon to punch through it all, resulting in a warming drink that also makes your taste buds happy. 🙂
Health benefits of mint, ginger, lemon tea
There are great nutritional benefits to this classic herbal tea. Fresh ginger tea is anti-inflammatory, helps the digestive system and can soothe an upset stomach. This warm drink is also great for soothing a sore throat and can help alleviate flu symptoms.
How to make ginger mint tea
Slice the ginger
First, peel about 1/4 cup of fresh ginger using a vegetable peeler. Cut it into thin slices and add them along with the water to a small saucepan.
Boil ingredients
Next, turn the stove to high heat. Bring the water and ginger to a boil, then reduce it to a simmer. Add in fresh mint leaves, lemon juice and honey. Simmer for a few more minutes.
Strain
Then, strain hot tea through a fine mesh sieve to remove ginger pieces and mint leaves.
Enjoy!
Lastly, pour your tea into two large mugs. Now it’s time to kick back and enjoy the warm cup of healthy, delicious tea you just made! Feel free to add some lemon slices for garnish and extra lemon flavor if you wish
Storage Instructions
Allow the tea to come to room temperature. Store in an airtight container such as a mason jar in the fridge for up to a week. Reheat in the microwave or pour over ice to make iced tea!

Hey Melissa! I’m glad you loved it! I haven’t tried it but I don’t see why not. I think it would be ok for about 2-3 days.
