Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 single-serve earl grey tea bags
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1/3 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/3 cup 2 % milk
  • 1/2 cup tapioca pearls (optional)

Instructions

  1. If you’re using tapioca pearls, make these first. Boil 5 cups of water for every 1/2 cup of pearls.
  2. Then drop the pearls into boiling water (carefully) and wait for them to float to the surface. Boil about 3 minutes more. Carefully remove from water using a slotted spoon and place in a small dish until ready to use. I add a few tbsp of water to them if I’m not going to use immediately. *see notes about sweetening the boba pearls
  3. Make the tea: Steep tea bags in boiling water for 6 minutes.
  4. Add sweetened condensed milk and stir until fully incorporated. Add regular milk and stir.
  5. Split the tapioca pearls between 2 glasses, add ice to each and split the milk tea between the 2 glasses.

Notes

*The tapioca pearls I’ve linked in the post are not sweet at all. The instructions on the boba package say to roll the pearls in sugar or to drizzle them with honey after you’ve boiled them. I didn’t add any sugar because the tea is already fairly sweet. You might find you want to sweeten the boba too.
