Chipotle Southwest Sauce (Subway Copycat Recipe)
This Chipotle Southwest Sauce tastes just like Subway’s Southwest Chipotle Sauce! This versatile sauce makes everything from quesadillas to an everyday sandwich taste special. With just a handful of simple ingredients, you’re just a few minutes away from a delicious meal!
I rarely get Subway these days. But man, I used to love getting a veggie sandwich with their southwest chipotle sauce. So, I decided to make my own! Homemade sauces like this southwest sauce (and this avocado lime crema!) are healthier than the processed stuff you find in grocery stores and restaurants. And I have to admit, this is my new favorite sauce! It’s the perfect sauce for a homemade veggie or turkey sandwich. I also like to sneak some into a cheese quesadilla for a little spice. Let’s make it!

Ingredients
Chipotle Southwest Sauce
This list of ingredients might look a little long, but it mostly consists of pantry staples!
- Mayonnaise – I prefer Sir Kensington’s mayo because it is organic and tastes amazing
- Yellow mustard
- Chipotle peppers in adobo sauce – This is my go-to pepper to add a kick of spice to southwest recipes like my Slow Cooker Chipotle Chicken! You can find chipotles in adobo in the international aisle of most grocery stores
- Fresh cilantro
- Fresh lime juice
- Garlic powder
- Onion powder
- Paprika
- Salt – Any variety works here – table salt, kosher salt or sea salt
- Pepper
- Sugar – Granulated white sugar works best here but brown sugar can be substituted
How to make Chipotle Southwest Sauce
All of the ingredients just go in your blender or food processor and get blended until smooth!
Now you’re ready to enjoy your delicious, homemade chipotle southwest sauce! Since making this recipe, I’ve been addicted to making my own version of a Subway veggie sandwich with this sauce.
Featured in this sandwich: mixed greens, provolone cheese, black olives, sliced onion, tomato and avocado. It’s SO good!
Storage Instructions
Store your chipotle sauce in an airtight container or jar in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
Where to use it
While this sauce is the perfect sandwich spread, it has so many other uses! Try it in breakfast quesadillas, on burgers, or as a dip for french fries or chicken nuggets!
Substitutions and Additions
If you like the taste of ranch dressing, try using ranch dressing instead of mayo! You can also replace half or even all of the mayo with plain Greek yogurt to give it more of a sour taste and to cut down on fat and calories. Chipotle peppers in adobo can be replaced by the same amount of chipotle powder or chipotle paste. Some other recipes use sour cream in addition to mayonnaise. I don’t think this recipe needs sour cream, but I have not tried making it with it yet. If you do, please let me know what you think in the comments section below!
