Ingredients for chipotle bacon

The bacon linked here is the exact kind I use and it worked great! Please note that this is an 8 oz package and the spice mix is enough for this amount of bacon.

Most standard packs of bacon are 12 oz. There will probably be enough to cover if you use a larger pack of bacon but you can easily double the amount if need be.

How to make chipotle bacon

Mix up the chili powder and brown sugar in a small bowl. Get it evenly mixed so you have even distribution on each delicious piece of bacon.

Then line a large baking sheet with parchment and line up the bacon strips. Another thing I liked about the smaller pack of bacon is the whole pack fits on one large baking sheet!

Then sprinkle the mixture over the bacon. Flip, and sprinkle the other side evenly.

Cook the bacon in a 400F oven for 15-20 minutes.

After removing bacon from the oven, use tongs to place each strip on a different baking sheet lined with paper towels to remove excess grease and allow the bacon to crisp up.

What to enjoy it with

Chipotle bacon is a super easy way to breathe new life into a BLT, a burger, a turkey club, and of course any breakfast dish where you like bacon. I loved it with my Southwest Breakfast Bowl. If you’re not sure about the added spice, try this super easy maple bacon instead!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz package of bacon (thin sliced)
  • 3 tbsp chili powder
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400F.
  2. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange bacon slices in an even layer. It’s ok for the bacon strips to touch, just don’t let them overlap too much. bacon strips on a baking sheet lined with parchment
  3. Combine chili powder and brown sugar in a small bowl until evenly mixed. Sprinkle over one side of bacon, then flip each piece and sprinkle the spice mixture over the other side.
  4. Bake for 15-20 minutes. It’s a little harder to tell if the bacon is getting over done because the chili powder makes the bacon look very dark. Listen to your gut and when it starts smelling completely amazing, it probably only has a minute or two more to go.
  5. Remove the baking tray from the oven and line a different baking sheet with paper towels. Use tongs to remove each piece of bacon and arrange on paper towels to dry up the grease and allow bacon to crisp up. chipotle bacon on a paper towel lined baking sheet
  6. Enjoy your chipotle bacon!
