This juice is perfect any time of year, but it’s especially great during these winter months when you need an immune booster. The perfect balance of carrots, spicy ginger, and whole fruits makes for a drink that is as healthy as it is refreshing. I make it in the blender and strain it to save myself the hassle of cleaning the juicer. Let’s make it!

    Ingredient Notes

    Carrot Ginger Turmeric Juice

    • Carrots – Carrot is the superhero of this juice. While carrots are a low calorie food, carrot juice is naturally sweet and makes this juice smooth and creamy. It also provides your daily recommendation of Vitamin A.
    • Ginger – I simply love ginger. For the past few years, my husband and I have been drinking hot ginger tea every evening after dinner. Sometimes, we’ll make this Ginger Mint Tea with Honey and Lemon and sometimes we’ll simply add some of a Ginger Juice Drink packet from Trader Joe’s into some hot water. It adds a spicy, warming touch to this juice that enhances digestion and provides anti-inflammatory benefits.
    • Turmeric root – Turmeric is a bright, golden-colored root that is similar in appearance to ginger and pairs perfectly with carrots and ginger!
    • Lemon juice – A touch of citrus balances the strong flavors and brings them all together. You can also use orange juice if you’re in a squeeze. 😉
    • Apple – As with the carrot, apples give this juice a bit more sweetness, which I love. You could also omit apples since carrot juice is a bit sweet already.
    • Water – This is optional but recommended. Adding water helps adjust the juice’s consistency based on your personal preference.

    Equipment Needed

    • Microplane
    • High-Speed Blender
    • Nut Milk Bag or Fine Mesh Sieve
    • Sharp Knife
    • Vegetable Peeler (Optional)
    • Cutting Board
    • Ice Trays (Optional for ice)

How to make carrot ginger turmeric juice

I used to have a Breville juicer, which was amazing for making all kinds of juices. But after a while, it became a nuisance. With so many different detachable parts, it was difficult to wash thoroughly every time.

It also became too cumbersome on the counter and just another “kitchen gadget”, which led me to get rid of it. Ever since, I’ve been making (and loving!) juices in our blender. So, that’s how I’ll show you to make this.

    Step 1: Wash & Prep

Start by washing all of your produce. Then, peel and chop the carrot. Peel a 3/4 inch knob of turmeric and ginger. Use a microplane to grate the turmeric and the ginger (you want about 1 tsp of each). Halve, core, then chop the apple. You won’t need to peel the apple.

    Step 2: Blend

Add all of the ingredients to a high-powered blender and blend until smooth. I have a Blendtec blender, and there is a ‘whole juice’ setting. I can’t really tell the difference between that and any of the other settings, but I always use it, and it works great.

    Step 3: Strain

Strain the juice through a fine mesh sieve or nut milk bag until it looks like the far-right picture below. Stir in a pinch of black pepper (optional) to boost the turmeric’s effectiveness.

    Step 4: Enjoy!

Pour into a glass and enjoy immediately. I like to serve this juice over ice, but that’s up to you!

    Storage Instructions

For the most nutritious juice, drink immediately! To store leftover juice, pour it into an airtight container such as a mason jar and keep in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours. Make sure to shake well before drinking!

To keep leftover juice for longer, pour the juice into ice cube trays and freeze for up to 12 months. Blend juice cubes with water for an instant juice on demand.

    Additions and Substitutions

Adding a pinch of black pepper increases the effectiveness of curcumin, the active compound in turmeric. I’ve also tried this with juice with peaches instead of apples, which was amazing!

Health benefits of Carrot Ginger Turmeric Juice

    Vitamin A (Beta-Carotene)

Carrots are packed with beta carotene, which promotes healthy vision, a strong immune system and glowing skin. Sign me up! Carrots also have a natural sweetness which makes this juice super tasty and enjoyable!

    Anti-inflammatory

Aside from having that distinct zingy flavor that makes this juice really pop, ginger and turmeric both have anti-inflammatory properties. Ginger has been used for centuries to relieve various ailments, from nausea to arthritis. Turmeric, with its brilliant yellow hue, is a key player in this elixir. Curcumin, the active compound in turmeric, is a potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. It has been studied for its potential benefits in preventing and treating various chronic diseases.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use powdered turmeric instead of fresh turmeric?

Yes! Use about ½ teaspoon of turmeric powder if you can’t find fresh turmeric.

Do I need to peel the carrots, ginger, and turmeric?

Not necessarily. Since you’ll be either straining your juice through a fine mesh sieve, the peel will not be a problem. Just make sure to wash all of your produce thoroughly before juicing.

Can I make this juice without a juicer?

Of course! Using a high-speed blender and a fine mesh strainer is my preferred method for making this juice since it requires less special equipment.

When is the best time to drink this juice?

I like to drink a cup of juice such as carrot ginger turmeric juice or cucumber celery juice either as my first drink each morning or with breakfast, since they kickstart digestion and boost energy levels. It’s an easy way to add a good habit to your daily routine!
