Apple Pie Shake

A quick little fall shake that tastes like apple pie!

I was hesitant to call this an apple pie shake. Not because it doesn’t taste of apple pie (it very much does), but because it sounds corny to me for some reason. Why? I’m not totally sure. Or maybe it sounds a little gimmicky, like it’s trying to hard to be catchy. Possibly because I feel like it’s not completely up front because there’s no crust and it’s just not a pie? Kinda like the coconut cream pie Lara Bar which is so NOT a coconut cream pie. This shake is not nearly as deceiving but maybe that was part of my dilemma. Despite my hesitation, here I am presenting this recipe for an apple pie shake! And it’s so delicious it doesn’t matter what we call it anyways.

My mom used to make this for us and I sadly forgot about it until recently. Shame on me because it’s so good! And really, its probably one of the healthiest milkshakes because there’s an apple in it. I often turn this vegan and use oat milk and oat milk vanilla ice cream.

Pretty straightforward right? Right. It’s creamy, with a little spice and bursting with fresh apple flavor. Also it’s very fall-esque and is great for this period of time where it’s still warm (in southern CA at least) but feels like fall and I’m starting to get excited about the holidays and being able to wear scarves again. Also it’s not pumpkin spice. No offense to pumpkin spice but it’s not the only fall flavor that deserves some attention.

Apple pie in shake form! It's creamy and kinda refreshing (thanks to a whole apple!) and just feels like fall. It's so good!
